Texas 80, Texas-Arlington 62

Tuesday evening at the Erwin Center, freshman Sheldon McClellan had his coming out party to the tune of 23 points and an 80-62 victory for the Longhorns over the Texas-Arlington Mavericks. McClellan looked like a trained killer, hitting for 17 points in the 1st half alone. Meanwhile J'Covan Brown had yet another off night, held to 11 points on 2-11 shooting. Freshmen Myck Kabongo and Julien Lewis made notable contributions, with Kabongo adding 13 points and 8 assists and Lewis scoring 13 points in 15 minutes. And senior Alexis Wangmene recorded yet another solid performance, with 10 points on 4-5 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds. Texas-Arlington threw a series of fluctuating defensive schemes at the Longhorns and actually put up a good fight before fading at the end. Next up for Texas is a game with Texas State on Saturday night at the Erwin Center.
