Tuesday evening at the Erwin Center, the Texas Longhorns ran the Nicholls State Colonels right off the court with a highly lopsided 93-40 victory. Texas guard J'Covan Brown led all scorers with 23 points, but it was freshman forward Jaylen Bond who made the most of a much weaker opponent by collecting 18 points and 12 in a mere 24 minutes of play. Freshman guard Sterling Gibbs also emerged with his best game of the season, hitting all 5 of his shots for 14 points in only 18 minutes on the court. Freshmen Myck Kabongo and Sheldon McClellan continued their string of impressive games, and senior Clint Chapman made a solid contribution of 10 rebounds, including 4 on the offensive end of the court. The Longhorns improved their record to 8-2 and next face the Temple Owls in Austin on Saturday.
