Texas 86, Texas State 52
A 6-2 Texas State Bobcats squad was really feeling good about itself after a Tuesday night victory in San Marcos over the University of Houston. But come Saturday evening, the Bobcats had to make the short jaunt up to Austin only to be completely dismantled by the Texas Longhorns 86-52. Texas freshman Julien Lewis led the way for the Longhorns with 19 points on 5-8 shooting from the 3-point line. 4 other Longhorns reached double digits in scoring, including 13 from Myck Kabongo, 13 from Sheldon McClellan, 11 from J'Covan Brown, and 11 from Alexis Wangmene. The Longhorns outrebounded the Bobcats 37-23 and held Texas State to a paltry 25.9% shooting for the game. With a 19 point lead at half-time, it was the Longhorns' 1st 7 offensive possessions of the 2nd half, that saw them launch 7 3-pointers and make 6 of them, that built the lead to 30 and made the game a done deal. The Longhorns improved to 7-2 on the season and are now only a week away from games against the tougher competition of Temple and North Carolina.
